I was given a 351L and looks like it will need a few parts. It looks to be the silver version, or it was, that Reinhard has posted here a few times. The tank, pickup, inside the valve assembly, and generator are very clean for a kerosene lantern. I pulled the valve assembly and the tank holds air, but the check valve (PIP?) is leaking. Looks like i will need to find the following parts; !. Check valve (PIP?) 2. Needle (the one in it is broken) 3. Seals? 4. Valve wheel shaft (this one is bent and not sure if it is a problem yet) I also got the Vapalux Halifax, but have not been into that one. Thanks in advance, Michael
@Mike Logbeck , you have a very cool lantern. Parts are rare. Fogas.se may have some parts you are looking for or alternatives. I posted in the gallery a MEWA lantern, looks very similar, if you have the skill set you can Remove the bent wheel shaft and straighten it. Graphite tape or plumbers teflon tape wrapped around the shaft to make a new seal. The pricker needle, if you can make one would be good but you may find an alternative similarity on eBay you can adapt. The non return valve pip. You can make from viton rubber, 3mm. Hole punch to suit, or order a NRV refurbish kit from the fettlebox they are an excellent product. Note. If you read about the mewr the NRV did not want to budge. Do not go hard it may be corroded in and some TLC is needed. Happy fettle I hop this helps
Vapalux 300, probably 1943 to 1944: is there a stamping on the bottom edge of the vent? Not as rare as the Hasag, but nice anyway.
I replaced the PIP, made what remains of the needle work, and straightened a few things. It runs, but is not real happy about running without a globe. Now that I know it runs...the cleanup can begin. Does anyone know what color or plating this had. It looks like ithas always been without either???? Still looking for a needle and a globe. Thanks
I have one of these with a grey tank, it is the Army version, runs great, Mike, if you can get a Radius 119 needle it will fit i believe
@steerpike451 from what I can tell you are correct that it is probably a 300 stamped with 1942 and an arrow (does the arrow indicate military?) Thanks for you input...
The "Broad Arrow" mark indicated property of the War Department, so yes military, specifically British Army - the RAF came under the Air Ministry and the Navy came under the Admiralty all of whom had different property marks (until the 1960's when all the armed forces came under the new Ministry of Defence, who took over the "broad arrow" AKA the "crow's foot").
