What a journey I have started on. On Monday I acquired my very first pressure lantern - a 286A (April 2002) with case that I bought for $45 CDN off of Marketplace. Having already dabbled in oil lamps/lanterns, loving my old school Coleman stove, and now looking for a workhorse lantern to take camping, it's been quite the journey. I took all parts apart to clean this lamp that was dirty, covered in soot (wish I'd taken before shots). It worked fine when I got it, but then I ran into some issues that was really just a jamb nut not on tight enough or at precisely the correct angle. Blew through a couple of mantles, but grateful for everything I've learned. Friday night and now it's time to enjoy its first light on a downtown balcony. Super happy with the brightness! I have it on low to read and feel like illuminating it on full will be way more light than I'll need camping. Can't wait to get photos of it out in the woods.
