Love this Hipolito running with a Petromax shade - no idea how to date the shade tho.

Must be some time between 1942 and 1972 (No E in the logo and Made in Germany) - but how to narrow it down further?

Nice little lantern, and seems to run well! From time to time there are shades available without the Petromax logo, e. g. from the Swiss lantern sets which contained Geniol lanterns that also were made by Hipólito.
Yours must definitely be nearer to 1972, but it would be of help when you show us the stamping on the tank bottom.

    Hi @Martin K.

The lantern is 1980 (stamped 4908), but I’m unsure how to date shades, if it’s even possible?

Hi @Buckaroo I haven't found a method to date the shades yet. in my opinion it should be made sometime after the war, but I can also be wrong. However, I'm pretty sure that they didn't manufacture them during the war or even shortly after war.

    As for the shades:
    - the monogram has only the G of Graetz so is definitely after WW2
    - Maybe the Made in Germany regd. May give a more acurate clue on the date period.
