Got myself a new Coleman from France. An early 327 with brass tank. Just needed a quick cleaning and new mantles and a mica globe
These Quick-Lite lanterns with gold painted finsh only seem to turn up in France. All the examples I know of came from there and I assume an importer/retailer ordered them as a cheaper special. I guess this makes them almost rare outside France and pretty special finds. ::Neil::
Beautiful ! @tretrop , this particular example appears to be from 1921/22 and not having the flat steel baffle which could qualify as correct for 1921 with this generation frame, or even 1922 if it were a possible cost cutting measure as Neil mentioned above. Toby Garner suggested to me the color Gold was similar to some painted CQ lamps of the era that makes total sense as this process was being announced by Coleman in the article below September 1921. Coleman had been exporting at least as early as 1917 using an independent Import - Export agent based in New York previous to Toronto, also Yale Co. exported product which was owned by Coleman also had Export capability in Chicago was also later used by Coleman to some extent. . . . . . @Toby Garner @Mackburner @Tony Press . I did get thisone from France, I will add a label that was attached to it also, from the seller in the old days. It is as stated above goldpainted over brass, on this lantern most of it is still there and i will keep it as is, even if a polished brass tank would in some ways look better, leaving as is feels better...
