Hi Alby, have you pursued C1 (premium) stuff since? I am driving trough Lancashire-Manchester-North Wales soon and wondering if there are any pumps for paraffin with a realistic price tag. I am still a bit wary about using 28 sec indoors.
Hi Pal .. Sorry not getting back to you sooner .. I have been having medical recovery and have been out of the UK for a while ... NOW ..sorry to tell you that AZTEC St HELENS.. have pulled out of trading small quantities of oil and all the pumps counters and the rest have been removed .. I suspected that they were going to cannabalise the depot when they took over CALDO .. you have to search around now for oil .. a few 4 litres of parrafin left next door at BP garage for 12.99 p though ... good look mate .
thanks! I'll try my luck with c2 heating oil first. The raw product doesn't smell much different than the bartoline paraffin I used before.
@Oaktree83 I might try and get a hold of a small amount to try in my wick heaters, i have just looked at prices of Paraffin Extra, my last delivery was £37 for 16 litres, now they want £45.50, if my local hardware is still selling Bartoline (which isn't the best) for £9 for 4 litres i might grab a few just in case.
Tested c2 kero (28 sec, heating oil, UK) indoors with a Chinese wick heater: smell raw stuff indoors: poor, you really don't want a single drop under your nose in your dining room. I was wrong earlier, noticeably worse than the pre pac premium stuff. blue flame: ✔, as nice as any other properly burning hydrocarbon smell burning: ✔ish. One can notice the smell, but 20-30minutes are ok even without ventillation. Later becomes irritating if not ventillated. At least serves as reminder to take proper care of CO2 and humidity levels...
