I have Dargue carbide table lamp that has been in the shed for years. The glass has long gone and the base it sits in, is fatigued. Apart from that it appears complete. To the right person I'm sure they'll have the skill to get it going. What are your thoughts?
@JohnM It looks in better condition than mine was, with a leak in the water reservoir I’d to solder. Interesting variation on the tripod feet. John
What an amazing looking lamp, never seen the like and with a number of fitments available. What would the chances be of finding an original shade I wonder? When would these date to?
Slim chance of finding an original shade I’d have thought, but one is quite possibly collecting dust in a car boot box of oddments somewhere. The Dargue’s patent has a 1911 date.
Thank you for the feedback! John, I'm intrigued you flipped the shade bracket upwards. Mine is hanger style, i have the ring and from its diameter, I'm guessing more a chimney style glass may have been present. Seems to be plenty of options either way. Cheers
Some more investigation on the computer this morning led me to this advert . Seems the original shade was a material type, not glass.
In truth, there’d surely be the option to go with either, in several patterns probably. The advert says, ‘fitted for your dining table’ and the example illustrated has the ornate feet that yours has and not the more utilitarian type as mine, which most likely had a correspondingly plain shade in glass or fabric.
Hi do you still have this lamp. Intrigued if you were able to get it working. I have acquired one with a broken Bray Luta burner and looking at ways of repair.
