    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone no where you can get insect guards for Tilley lamps? Is there anyone out there that is maybe reproducing them?
Reading through a lot of the threads I have noted quite often references being made to different books and catalogues. Does anyone know of any that are available in the marketplace and where I might purchase them.
    Many thanks.

The later ones for the bottom of the glass turn up now and then ? You can make the top ones easily enough from mesh? .. hours of fun

There was someone selling fancy top ones laser cut with “Tilley Lamp”

The Tilleyman has probably got some bottom ones? give him a bell

    @Madcollector

I have a bunch of used top insect protectors for Tilley galleries. How many do you want? With postage you might be better off making your own.

The Tilley company sells new bottom insect screens.

Hi Tony, Thanks for the offer..as you say it might be cheaper making my own..The problem I have is that I have over 70 Tilley lamps and not one insect screen to use as a template :( nor do I know where to get the need material. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks.

    Hi mad
Sorry I left the phone at home, just got in
    ..
No, but have a look on fleabay for ideas of price first.. the more you buy, the cheaper it is !
There may be some welder fabricators near you that have some mesh or something ‘near enough’ ?

I will have a measure of a top one but the photos may take a while as dependent on good signal

I will post approx measurements shortly

Here are images of the upper insect screen which came as standard on the TL120A table lamp.

Equally at home on an earlier gallery

Stainless steel 0.8mm thick. Outer diameter 82mm. Centre hole for burner mixing tube 25mm. Perforations are 4.63mm diameter at 6.5mm centres.

Plenty of suppliers on the web for perforated stainless steel sheet if you need a 4M x 2.5M sheet. Though I never looked, I suspect much smaller sizes could be found on eBay. You could also use brass and if you can't find perforated sheet, I don't see why mesh couldn't be used provided the wire was of a suitable thickness and holes of around 4.5 / 5mm

Bear in mind you will probably need a cobalt drill if you use stainless.. at the very least coated drills + cutting paste/fluid
Also a lot of holes in each one
