Coleman green bail handles

Some time ago I posted a 1935 Canadian Coleman 242A, which came with a painted green bail handle.

The general consensus was that someone had just painted it.

Well, here’s another, this time on a 1940 Canadian 249.

 

Never seen a painted nail. But you know those crazy Canadians….

 

I will keep my eye out for this issue here in Canada.

The bails are prone to rusting. Anything^s possible if there had been previous owners.

 

If it was painted by a "civillian" it should have traces of plating underneath the paint ?

 

I think these are Canadian Coleman export parts.

Probably. If it is originally painted from the factory, they were wouldn't plated it in the first place.
But then again, anything is possible with Coleman.
