Hi Al, Nice to meet you at Newark; was a bit wet at times! Thought that we may have needed your Scammel Recovery truck! Regards your AGM lamp. You should be able to get a rough idea if you research the US Patent number. These are much easier to trace than UK patents. I think that Neil (mackburner)posted an article on tracing patents here some time back. Looking at the style of design I would guess at 1920-30's. Another good indicator is if the control knobs are Bakelite or not. Hope this helps. Steve.
3927 is a 1940s lantern. Probably 1947 and 1948. 3927A is listed in 1949 so it is before that and 3927 is not listed in a 1946 parts catalogue. That patent No1973184 is interesting because it is not an AGM one. It was applied for 11 Sep 1933 by Boyd W. Tullis and assigned to the Coleman Lamp and Stove Company. The patent is specifically for the pricker rod and needle and its connection to the valve unit. When the lamp was made AGM was no longer the parent company but owned by the Queen Stove Works in Albert Lea and was stricly speaking the AGM division of Queen Stove. ::Neil::
Good day! Did you ever manage to get your AGM 3927 to burn properly? Mine is like yours in the picture, not very bright and a yellowish glow rather than white. What mantles are you using? Does it have an AGM generator, or is it something else? Thanks, Ben
The 3927 uses the same generator as Coleman 220 / 228 series. For mantles, use Coleman 21A or equivalent e.g. Peerless 2C - HG
