That is amazing Jean! You sure you are showing us the same side? Yes, I see the marking . Very well done. Steve.
Hello Jean Nice work on the shade repair & the globe carrier , well done can't see the join , will it be ok on a working lamp. Regards Stu.
Wow! That's great! I've googled 'glass bond' and found several products, can you give the details of the one you used please? I have an FL6 with a hairline crack - if I can bond it to stop it creeping, it might delay me needing to find a replacement!!
As far as I'm aware, Glassbond softens with heat so unless they've improved the technology lately, it's for display only...
In my opinion any glass shade or globe which has been repaired, should only to be used for display, Jeff.
I see a U.S. product with a high-end operating temperature of 375F (190C). Does anyone have an idea of how hot the globe gets? I'm too lazy to fire up a lamp right now and use my IR thermometer...
I used Loctite Glass Bond and have just checked the small print. Under 'Limitations' it warns that Glass Bond should not be used on glass that is exposed to oven temperatures. So that may rule out using on a lamp that is lit up? Just as well I never light mine then!
