I just picked up this lamp, I know absolutely nothing about them but a Google search has led me here, I would love it if anyone could tell me a bit more about it and also how to operate it. Thanks

    Welcome aboard!

That is a Veritas round wick paraffin lamp, the glass chimney is not the correct type, it's for a duplex lamp/twin flat wicks.

Thank you, so after looking at a few youtube videos I’ve managed to get it apart and take the old wick, so I need to find a replacement one. Can it be used ok with that glass? It fits fine

That glass is the wrong design and the lamp won't work properly with it, but you could try it.

Ah ok thank you I appreciate your help. Is there anywhere you can recommend to look for a replacement glass please and also a wick or is it too old to source either easily?

@Wilmawoo That’s a ‘tubular’ wick of which supplier The Base Camp says,
I recommend you phone The Base Camp and discuss your requirements for the wick and the correct glass chimney, which they stock also.

Great thank you, yes some helpful info and I seem to be on the right track to restoring it to use. It is a lovely looking lamp and with the shades I’ve seen it’ll definitely have a new lease of life, assuming it works fine once I get it back together
