Hi .Anyone know of a good way to clean out the vapour tube?. I am not sure what is inside the tube and I don't want to break anything. Thanks
Here's the patent drawing of a Willis & Bates vapouriser. It is possible to remove the brass fitting but there is a risk the fitting may shear off so you do so at your own risk. If you insist, this method works for me Remove the cleaning wire and rubber washer. Heat the lower end by the brass fitting to bright red and allow to cool. Clamp the vapouriser FIRMLY lengthways in a vice leaving 1/2" of tube plus the brass fitting free of the jaws. Using a small pipe wrench / Visegrips® or similar, grip the brass fitting FIRMLY and unscrew it. With a Tilley, once you've cracked it it will unscrew 2 or 3 turns and then tighten up again, I can't remember if Bialaddin are the same, either way - lubricate ! Clean the tube and reassemble, I put copper grease on the threads to help make a good seal.
