I have purchased a Hipolito H502 Automatic and on disassembling it i have found that the fount is coated in some type of laquer on the inside. I assume that this is what happens too paraffin when left on a shed shelf for 30+ years .It smells like very strong turps but i think it is just old paraffin . Has anyone got a way of removing this stuff. Thanks
Hi there Folks have used automotive paint thinners for this or acetone If your lamp has a foot valve arrangement in the tank /fount you may want to remove that part or renew the seal as the thinners will attack it Make sure you use eye and hand protection
