This is a Canadian Coleman 156 table lamp, found in Australia, dated April 1947. It is a gasoline lamp. I've cleaned it, but kept the paint as found as these lamps are not that common. Note the crooked etching on the wide mouth 355 Coleman glass. "Coleman/Trade Mark Regd/The Sunshine of the Night/Made in Canada" "47 4" The burner tubes are steel. The R55 generator is stamped "Coleman made in Canada" I have kept the paint as found but cleaned to show the original paintwork. Note that the paint highlighting does not go all the way around the fount at the top. This is another fine Canadian Coleman lamp. Cheers Tony
What an astounding shade for the lamp. I have a 156 sitting on my desk that I have been working on. It was found in a barn, where it had been sitting on a floor for years. There is a leak in the base of the tank, looks like it is where the steel meets the brass tank by the base rim. Is there a good sealant I can use?
@Brian Phaneuf As the Coleman 156 is a gasoline lamp, the repair to the bottom of the tank will need to be very secure. I would thoroughly clean the rust from the inside and outside of the tank to check the extent of deterioration. The repair may need to be done by soldering a patch over the rust, or using plumbers solder alone as a patch. Tony
