It’s identified as a 1250 AIDA EXPRESS RECORD 250CP, Made in Germany This is what’s known as a "Sicke", having the four indents around the top of the fount and corresponding raised sections on the bottom of the collar. I believe it was manufactured between 1954-56. There are not date scratch marks that I can make out on the font bottom. Glass Dimensions - 89mm diameter x 107mm high. The jet in the pre-heater torch is worn. Giving a yellow flame and leaving some soot on the vapouriser. But it’s not enough to be of concern. Up and running. I’m happy with the result.
Nice work, @ROBBO55. Thanks for the detailed post. I’ll need it when I get around to doing mine! Cheers Tony
These belong to the last well made "european" lanterns. I guess identifying is not that hard since the label says it all. No MD44 mark on the bottum ?
@Tony Press @primaxel @WimVe @Reinhard Thanks for the positive comments. WimVe Not that I could see. 3 light angles
A great lamp and good pics. The aida express is a good solid performer. Are the dents in the tank from manufacturing or are they the results of the notorious 'sicke' shortcomings?
@JEFF JOHNSON Thanks @James K the dents in the tank are manufactured. I believe the problem they had was caused by owners over tightening the cage screw and crushing feet on the cage.
