    Hi everyone
Here in France, we can find this type of radiator from time to time
This was used to heat the greenhouses
I was told that the 2 Super Aladdin burners were equipped with an asbestos wick, then by a metal wick because of the danger of asbestos

    I have two questions:
1 / Are these wicks really capable of giving more warmth than the blue flame alone?
2 / Is someone able to show me a photo of such a metal wick?

Hello Michel, I assume that you mean mantles, they were made from some type of wire mesh and they are much the same shape as an Aladdin Loxon mantle, the link below shows relevant information.

Yes "mantle", I don't know why I write "wick"
an age effect, without doubt
Thanks Jeff, I see but I would like to see a real metal mantle even if I can imagine the shape with the picture

My suggestion is to obtain the frames from 2 Aladdin Loxon mantles and try to fit some type of wire mesh to them.
I have searched but so far I have not found any images of the original Aladdin wire mesh mantles.

Wow, that is quite a display of lamps and light !
Thanks for that Jeff, again something new..
they are like tiny glowing christmas trees ! Perhaps possible to make something similar but out of s/steel mesh??

I used to take the kids to the old trolley bus depot on the occasional rainy Sunday before they were teenagers.. that was in the ‘90’s ..

    Cheers

You are both welcome and hopefully the annual Wheels by lamplight event will get going again.
My recollection of the original Aladdin wire heater mantles was vague, but wire mesh should work as it does on Tilley radiators etc., as Aladdin wicks give off a Bunsen flame too.
