I'm in Scotland, near Linlithgow. Anyone here passing by is welcome to a brew up and a blether in the shed. It's always good to meet like minded people.
Here you go. 1972 750 Norton Commando 750 John Player Norton replica with high compression head. Enjoy!
Very nice. Are those wheels standard? I'm more into the Italian brands, but quite like the British bikes from the late 60s and early 70s.
Blimey! This brings back a whole lot of memories! My main make was BSA, but my first Norton was an early 750 Fastback (with front twin leading shoe drum brake) followed by..... a replica 850 John Player! That was early 1980s. You may believe it or not, but I once slept inside the walls of Linlithgow castle surrounded by Vintage Triumphs. Also many years ago, I must be getting old! @Norman Murray
I was into Triumphs for 40 years but I do have a son named Norton. Good to see old British iron still doing the rounds. Its been a few years since I last saw a JP Norton in the flesh . If you are ever Harrogate way drop in I've only recently taken up lamping (is that the correct namelol?) A pic of my old bike
Nice Commando. My fav' was the Mk2A 850 Interstate. Toured the British Isles on that. Still got my BSA Super Rocket and a couple of Velocettes.
As a fellow paraffin head living in Scotland I'm sure we'll meet up sooner or later. Wife and I are on the West Coast in Glenfinnan so it's quite an awkward journey to get to your place but definitely doable. Never got into bikes myself but virtually all my school mates did so I was immersed in it back in the day. Nice to have you aboard!
Wow!! such a nice motorcycle, I had a 1972 Commando 750 many years ago. It had high compression, bigger carbs and the cams were from a combat motor. Any way it was a handful with the original drum brakes and worn isolastics but I rode it for many years. I sold it 40yrs ago as I needed funds for a business that I was establishing. I always intended to get another but never did, too old and out of practice now.
