Coleman built for the Yale light company. Coleman would designate these as YZ. The Y for the fount shape and Z for the style burner. The A stamp on the valve wheel would indicate 1922 for Coleman lamps and that would fit this lamps timeframe as well. Pictured with an era appropriate 307 shade.

Thank you all for the kind words. I have been wanting to add one of these to the collection for some time. Glad I was able to trade around and get one :content:

@Tony Press I thought of you when I seen this fount/fuel stem brace. I knew you were asking about them awhile back.

Thanks for pointing out that stem brace to me, Toby. It's a match for the one on this Coleman CQ: Coleman CQ (Mixed parts; USA)

    Cheers

Hey Toby Curious to know why you think this was built by Coleman and a CL 513
Do you have any ads and wondering if there is anything stamped on the handle ?
    Cheers

This is perhaps more likely Yale model 216. Near identical to 513 but 216 base has the centre bolt head and 513 just has the pip. 216 is generally unmarked in the base and examples known with the handle marked but CL513 has the model No stamped in the base as in this image showing both lamps. ::Neil::

There's no doubt in my mind this was built by Coleman. For whom and what model always comes into question of course when they are unmarked as both of the examples below are. I placed the one above in the 513 model section as it's identical in every way to other examples I've seen minus any identifying marks. Possibly another mail order company of the time?

As far as the ML216-222 models I have always seen them advertised showing the bell cover that goes over the filler cap. Of course illustrations can not always be counted on and were often held over as well.

Again, both of these are unmarked. Notice the ML216 style has the Q70 burner whereas the 513 style has the Z burner.

If there's more fact to be brought to light I encourage those with it to share for future collectors. There's enough assumption in this hobby :)

What we are discussing as far as bolt in baseplate, Q70 burner, finish cover, handle stamp, Z burner etc. is the evolving transitioning components of the Yale Match Lighting Lamp which is what the ML two hundred series designation indicates also for the lantern.
“Yale” Chandelier and bracket lamps Match Lite designation numbers have not been confirmed yet at this time.
W.C. Coleman had the patent for this burner Toby shows on his lamp and shipping records identify these shipped by the “Y for Yale shape fount” and “Z for burner”. These began shipping in July 1920 immediately after the patent was granted in the previous month. Coleman operated Yale until 1922 who had been retailing and exporting their Arco-Lite trade marked products to Australia, New Zealand and likely others. Coleman continued using Yale’s 213-217 Desplaines street address as an Export Office In Chicago.
    .
Notice the change of support rod bracket #6 position from actual products is reversed from drawing.

2 of the ads above show 216 with bell cover but the full page one shows it without and with what looks like the Rod support for a Z burner. Because of these ads I have always assumed 216 was supplied with both types of burner and with or without the bell cover. OK so relying on ad cut illustrations is perhaps not 100% safe but as these lamps are not marked with a model it's all we have to ID them. There can be no such doubts with 513 as we have several examples which are clearly marked in the base plate with make and model. So whilst it isn't 100% I assume all unmarked examples of these lamps are 216 and all 513s are as marked. ::Neil::

I am in agreement, it is interesting that a model number change came about with Yale now gone on the same Lamp with their registered trademark being used, after years of no model identification or branding on the product and the lanterns continued without either. There may be a possibility of the transition from the bolt baseplate to pip without stamping as the Coleman “C” fount fount also did in the same time frame.
