    Spotted these items up country recently, can't identify them myself. The big heater, is it Coleman, Gloria, or another make ? Thanks.

    Yep, a red hot Coleman Hot Ray 480. The ceramic mantle followed on from an asbestos mantle but the ceramic ones are fragile and if you had one it would be best to keep it carefully for display and construct a metal one out of appropriate tubing. There is also a smaller version that seems to be only found in Australia (though made in Canada) but only a few of these have been spotted.

    The iron looks like an Australian made Peerman Model I/46

    Merry Christmas Paul

    @Sedgman

    Thank you. Both items are on my wish list.

    Those country museums are most interesting, it's easy to spend a whole day just browsing. For example, at Gundagai they have a Howard tractor with an overhead camshaft motor in it, most unusual. Temora museum is also quite good.

    Merry Christmas & Regards.

    An OHC Howard tractor! I've got a pushrod 800cc Howard vee twin that a mate wants to put in a HD frame. All cast iron. Weighs a ton! Excercise in futility.

    Futile alright. Those Howard rotary hoes are bulletproof; they have their own group of collectors and restorers. Mr. Howard was knighted for his services to agriculture.

    Well, to clarify...futile in a Harley frame! (Actually it's a sidevalve) I'm sure it made a wicked rotary hoe. But a motorbike?!!!
