    Just bought one of these:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K25ZZZ2

Oil lantern that heats a thermoelectric generator, which then powers LEDs, to put out much greater light than just the oil flame alone will generate. Unfortunately not capable of charging USB devices, or anything external, like a Biolite stove.

Runs on oil lantern cartridges. Apparently a tea-light conversion was available, but has since been discontinued. Only comes with one cartridge, which is supposed to be good for 4-6 hours of light. I plan on refilling it with a syringe, if I wind up burning it that long. I'm sure a step up converter and 5v regulator could be MacGyvered to charge USB devices, if one was so inclined.

I'll report back when I have it!

Interesting Marc. Available from Amazon UK apparently but more expensively than Stateside.

Interesting concept, if the lantern would run 20h on kero. This would beat most led torches.

So you light up an oil lamp to make electricity for a led?
    hhmmm.

That's neat. Kind of looks like it only lights a very small area though.

If a person had a lot of time on their hands, it would be interesting to calculate the efficiency (in lumens per watt, maybe?) compared to pressure lamps and wick lamps. :-k

I would want to measure Volts and Amps to calculate Watts. I doubt it will make 100mW.

100mW can still produce 10 Lumen LED light.

And that is about what I expect. Looking forward to any measured values.

Just received it today, haven't had a chance to even pull it out of the box yet. If I can get measurements without destroying the device, I'm happy to do so.
