    Hi Steven,

I'm no expert but I've got a PL53 from way back in the day and a 246B from not that long ago.

The standard cock doesn't come apart very much. The filter screen unscrews from the bottom and the knob and shaft nut will come off. As far as I know that's about it on most cocks.

realign it with the bottom of the control cock its not sitting level, i dont know what difference it will make but if tilley had it sitting level then im puting it back that way as they know more than me and every pic iv seen of the gauze its not ment to sit in the position mine is sitting.

hope that clears things up :)

Umm, sounds like some-one's cross-threaded it. You could remove it and replace it properly but I don't think it'll make a happ'orth of difference to the way the lantern runs.

I think it's about time you got yourself a Bialaddin or Vapalux lantern... ;) 8)

Aye, well don't go paying a fortune for one - they've been making them for around 70 years, mainly supplying the military who get rid of them in batches from time-to-time for about £4 each. Thus there are stacks about and they're never going to be rare in our lifetimes.

Now I'm not saying those ex-military jobbies aren't worth the £70-80 plus that's being asked on eBay, but there's an awful lot of blatant profiteering going on... [-X
