    First new lantern of 2023. Not super common to see original German Petromax lanterns here in the U.S.

    Thanks for getting the date for me. I understand how you get the week, day, and even the last number of the year, but how on earth do you figure out what decade it's from?

    You can do that if you look at the different features. These have changed over time and give a rough indication of the dating, and then the number key provides the exact date.

    Hi,
    4 digit stamped and this Type rapid… typical 60s
    2 or 3 digit scratched and this type rapid… typical 50s
    (3/5 = march 1955, 12/5 = december 1955…)
    From begin 70s the modern type rapid, produced in Portugal at Hipolito also 4 digit stamped with another code.
