A good Friday evening to one and all, I've just fired up a few this eve, been fettling a Feuerhand 323, poor soldering job but I think I sealed her, understood a non-pressure lamp but I know plenty of you out there also have an interest in wick lamps and lanterns. A 300x arrived a few months ago with the Pork pie tilley among others and brought with her a nice glass. Bialaddin etched, not red or green, quite fine lines and pleasing to the eye, as they all are. I'd be interested in any comments regarding age, period when produced etc etc please if anyone has info. I also include some shots of the other lamps burning tonight. Happy weekend! Nicky
This first lamp in the pics Vapalux 300, 1945 maybe. If the Bialaddin glass is in the 300 I would say it’s a later replacement, but I’m not sure exactly when that etching was used. Nice lite up, all are working well.
I think the first lamp is a mixture. A Bialaddin 300x or 305 (probably around 1950) with a Vapalux 300 hood (early to mid 1940s). Or, if you prefer a Vapalux 300 (but not 300x) - early to mid 1940s with a Bialaddin 300x or 305 (probably around 1950), cage, tank and glass etc.
@Gary Waller, @Ian Bingham yes the first is a brass tank 300 with pip, probably a 300x frame with a 300 hood. Tank shape is exactly as my steel 300 but completely different from the 300x onward. As it has the inverted right at the base rather than the rim that sits proud of the tank. The glass arrived in a 300x, curious as to when the green and red lettering was first used as this is just etched. Pics of the 300's
The usual straight cylinder glass logo I have seen is this: however the one I refer to at the top of the post is a non coloured version of a 315 moulded glass:
