I purchased a bunch of Tilley parts and partial lamps and lanterns today and the gentleman that owned this collection had this tin sign. I plan on hanging it with my Coleman signs but am curious if it’s older or a reproduction. Thanks in advance.
Hiya Dan. It looks like a modern reproduction, judging by the thin steel (with folded edges) it’s printed on. An original would be on much thicker steel and the design would be enamelled and not printed. John
@dday It looks like the two that I own, which were both from former commercial traders who obtained their advertising signs directly from Tilley. One is here: https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/tilley-advertising-sign.13128/ The other I have has been used and it’s condition is more like yours. Cheers Tony
There do seem to be UK based companies that offer printing on metal as a service. But you will need some good artwork (maybe a good scan of an original) here is one on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/143...=sr_gallery-1-21&frs=1&organic_search_click=1
