AVK307 Kero-O-Lite

Here's my newest torch lite lamp. There is not a lot of readily available information for this model.
The fount as a few bumps and bruises but is free of stress cracks
I have not gotten a chance to light it up so those pictures will follow.

 

That’s very nice @Dean D and I like the shade and the way the smoke bell sits up there.

Looks wonderful. It does seem strange that the bottom of the frame is cast but the top is square bar. Not important as it is out of sight but has it been replaced I wonder? It doesn’t detract from how great it looks!

 

Not quite, square it may be but bar it ain't. It's actually square section tube for the air intake.

that’s how it was made, it’s the same burner as a Coleman Arc Lantern.

 

Looks smart, like the shade. A nice restoration.

Finally got around to fettling this one, running on kerosene like it should.

That does look very nice.. I do like the way the tank ‘bell’ hides all the controls and that turban shape is so distinctive :-)

edit : did they use this shape on other lamps or even different types like a chandelier, at all?

There’s nothing I don’t like about this lovely lamp @Dean D except the fact that I will probably never own one!

 

Off the top of my head, that particular shape of “turban” tank was used on Knight, Gloria, ?Thomas, Sunshine Safety, and ?Yale table lamps.

There are other “turban”-like shapes as well.

Thanks.. I suppose that was just the style back then? Or were makers sharing designs or making products for general use?

There has been much speculation about the origin of these particular turban tanks, especially the Knight/Gloria examples.

It may well be that the tanks were made for Knight and Gloria (and others), not by them. There’s no direct evidence that there was a third party, nor that the tanks were made directly by one or more of the brand name companies.
