This Aladdin lamp called to me from a local Farmers and Community market. The graphics on the tank were hidden under a layer of grime. The chimney is nicely engraved with the word ALADDIN surrounded by PHOENIX MADE IN ENGLAND. Not sure if any wishes remain inside but it looks like it would light with some minor fettling. The little Aladdin spirit can was an earlier find... IMG_7046.jpg IMG_7047.jpg

Great find! Especially with the transfer on the tank being in such good condition.

    Cheers

Very nice @Funfundfunfzig , Congratulations.

Is the tank steel or brass?

These black painted Aladdins should be brass. I am not completely sure (no definite proof), but I believe they were available as a cheaper option than the plated version for some time in the 60s.

The tank is not attracted to a magnet and it doesn't appear to have any telltale signs of steel corrosion, so I'm leaning towards it being brass, as suggested by @Nils Stephenson. I also thought it may have been a painted steel tank when I first looked but it would appear not to be!
