    Hello everybody,

    with a lot of excitement, an immediate money shot of one lamp that is possible to find only once in a lifetime.

    Everything fine apart the missing needle wheel and handle, that will be fixed soon.

    To note the tank bottom a little bulged out and a small leak on bottom rim, but the lamp is running fine for the last 30 minutes.

    I will rinse and solder the little leak next.

    Not sure if the original mantle was “passed out”, I will try with a new one for a better light.

    Additionally, I just cleaned it gently to preserve a very nice patina. I didn’t even think to clean the soldering around the connection of the fuel line to the tank.

    The only needed operation was to free the vertical fuel line from some carbon that was completely blocking the fuel.

    Oh, the glass is not the original one that I was scary to use… so next, some photos with the original globe that is a couple of centimeters taller.

    @nep036

    This is a very nice, rare and odd Hasag 40 lantern you have got there.
    I like the odd design with fuel feeding outside the cage, and an empty cage bottom!

    I love the very fine stampings of the slots and the height of the top part..

    I like it all really, in fact I like them both!!

    Hello nep036,

    Congratulations on this unique little treasure.
    With this little Hasag you are in perfection, to have left it like this, it is very pleasant.
    In the same way to present us his light is the must.
    It is also very pleasant to see the little Providus at these sides. (Liliput Hasag).
    Thanks for sharing all of this.

    Regards,
    Titoo.

    @Conny C yes I agree, these rare Hasag early models are very intriguing. The fact that it can accommodate different height globes is a smart design :)

    My opinion is that Hasag 40 could be the progenitor of the Liliput, I have this sensation. The Liliput Providus is known as Hasag 20, so being smaller than 40 a good model number selection would have been 40/2 so 20… I like to imagine this :)

    @podbros thanks!

    @Titoo thanks! When dealing with rare items I usually try to impact on them as less as possible. Fortunately its patina is very pleasant with all these grey/brown shades from top to bottom that give to the lamp a not repeatable look.

    Cleaning the solder repair (that is a little gross) would then force me to polish the tank, that would end up being bare brass considering that the original plating is not that thick… once done that the cleaned brass wouldn’t fit the patina of the upper parts requiring a complete polishing that would erase forever the history of this lamp, so not a road I’d like to take.

    Cheers,

    Nicola
