Thanks Bruce Great Tip I shall be sure to add to my homemade gig The gig then to go in the water bath Pretty rough Basic Plank plus 2 guide bars - and a key hole as a stopper Diamond cutting disc - fairly "loose' fitting in the vice This so left hand rotates the glass and right hand squeezing the water from a drip bottle as well as applying a little down pressure on the cut grove Angle of cutting wheel was good for splatter Will be sure to try next time with the whole lot in the bath
@Warwick Beaumont ~~ thats a better set up than I had-- I like control of the cutting wheel-- I just hand held mine !
Together we shall overcome Got loadsheding here in South Africa So great excuse to light up for a brew
Sorry forgot to mention A French press was the glass donor Handy as the pouring spout makes a great access for adding spirits and lighting the fuel Glass is scarce down south so me make plans
@F. bruce kuda @Warwick Beaumont Thanks for sharing your glass cut tips, it’s always good to see how others do things.. in the home engineering and the much quoted necessity being the mother of invention I do remember @phaedrus42 sharing similar tips and also @ColinG used French press glass (we call them cafetières) I think he mentioned about the spout helping with fuel/lighting access @Warwick Beaumont did you fit a primus spirit cup in your 119 above, at all? The top nut also seems more primus-y? I know you need the lamps in a practical sense but it’s great to see them doing what they were made for thanks to all regards pb
Greetings All Today I was fixing a Beatrice stove Now we all know that mica screen is the first bit that gets poked out I managed to save one screen Looking about the shed to find something that would show some light Aha French press from the glass job The sieve makes a pretty decent screen for the stove It still needs a clean to get the fine grains out So 2 lamp glasses and 4 screens The centre has a pressed button that the plunger rod secures to Pretty easy to open Then just cut the metal sieve with a scissors Trim to fit the metal screen Drill 2 Locating holes and Bobs yr Auntie
