@Marko57 You lucky devil ! Where, when were these made ? Kerosene or Shellite ? Pricker control ? Outside pump ? Thanks.
Great lamp ! Do you have to lower the globe to light? I see there is a spring clip there? very interesting
I really like the technical and aesthetic design of this lamp. All my congratulations. Regards, Titto.
@Paul Aslanides I feel a bit awkward responding as you directed your question to @Marko57, so I’m happy for him to chime in and correct me if I’ve said something silly, but… As far as I can surmise from some catalogues and advertisements, this model of Wizard table lamp was made in Australia by the Wizard Lighting Systems company in Sydney in the early 1920s. It uses one of the burner systems, hood, and glass units that was used in some Nagel Chase - Wizard hollow wire systems. The fuel is gasoline (Shellite). It would have been referred by Wizard as an match-lit or instant light lamp. Like many of the Australian-made Gloria table lamps, this Wizard No. 60 table lamp is essentially a hollow wire lighting system modified to be sat on a pressure tank. Cheers Tony
Thankyou @Tony Press for answering @Paul Aslanides for me. I had a heart attack last Friday night so got a free trip to the PA hospital in Brisbane. Back home now with a Stint to open a 90% blockage, the joys of getting old.
Note that the lamp that is the subject of this thread made a cameo appearance near the bottom of this thread: Wizards Lamp ??. Cheers Tony
Hello Tony, I have some sad news that Vic Tipman had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and has passed away. Rip Vic.
Yes, Mark. I heard while I was in Japan. (I’m back now.) I was chatting to him quite recently so it was a bit of a shock. Tony
