Listing has ended and just wondered if any of you were following the bidding on a 10” Tilley doughnut on eBay? Something very strange going on there.
I thought that too Jean, strange for 3 buyers to retract bids within a space of 5 mins, found its level in the end
That was my auction. I was initially surprised when early bidding took the price up to £2500+. Then the highest bidder dropped out saying he had miss bid. The next highest bidder did not notice that he was winning until within the last 12 hours of the auction so he contacted me to say that his financial situation had changed since he had placed his bid and so could not honour it. I therefore cancelled his bid. Then the next highest bidder contacted me when he found out he was winning to say that he had been 'bid up' and did not want to pay the £900 he had bid. By then I was fed up with people wanting to cancel their bids, so I cancelled all bids ( you cannot stop an auction if there are bids and less than 12 hours to go ) . So the auction started again at £100 with 1 1/2 hours to go. As you say it found it's level in the end. Still it was a pretty poor show from all those high bidders. So now I have decided never to auction the one item I most proud of a Tilley ...... as I could not trust anyone to pay what I think it is worth.
Hi Stuart and welcome! thank you for sharing that.. frustrating probably doesn’t come near to what you must have felt though Regards, pb
