These had been sitting inside unused for 5 or more years. Prior to that, history unknown.. one dated 1956, the other 1960. Both Canadian.

I got inspired fettling a kero marine stove, so pulled these out gave them a cat wash clean, poured fresh unleaded petrol in, fitted new mantles and set them ablaze

They light up our outdoor lounge nicely.

Really well done. Lantern light to me is both practical and luxuriant in how relaxing, calming it is.

OK this is fun - pressurised petrol and fire, whats not to like??

I had a 242B Scout model in the pile of stuff as well. Its a 1945 build, appears to be a brass fount.

The generator was a bit clogged with crap and it needed a new mantle, but here he is, half an hour later in the test pit. Not bad given it hasn't run for at least 10 years that I have owned it.

He will be joining the other two as outside firepace lounge area lighting.
