    Greetings

    Not quiet pressure stuff

    Yet an interesting project

    IMG-20210504-WA0058.jpg

Seems this baby had been on display for many moons

Post strip down there where plenty of issues

Tube holding the Wick was totally rotten

Here I used a piece of copper tube as a replacement

    Fine pitting on the fount

This recieved a little lead solder

    The Wick was also rotten
Here I used some strands from a mop

The jet also has some fine mesh

Off to get some benzene for a test

This was the second lamp I procured 3 years ago

It's been on the back burner while I went down the rabbit hole of stoves pressure lamps and centre draught lamps

I am sure many of you suffer from the same symptoms

I will need to do a little more research on the fork and mantle settup

Here all the bits pre assembly

    Thanks Wim

    So if I understand
Wire up the top of the wick stands and cover the whole lot with some gauge mesh

    The fork you reference
Is this inside the stands ?

    This was as I stripped
    Found the pic

I cannot remember if there was wire / "fork" inside

Seems a similar settup to a Svea wick
    ?

Indeed the fork is inside the strands.

The strands are hold together, shape wise, with a piece of string.
The metal gauze on top is there for heat transfer and to create some space in the dome for heated gas. I found the rod inside also later on when "drilling out" the remains of the strands completely rusted together.

Maybe the fork was only meant to push in the strands and not left in there.

A fine fettling project and the tank is designed to fit into a vase or a wall bracket etcetera.

Managed to get the wick inserted

Pre heated with a butane torch and we have life

Next to get some kind of mantle up there

Sure this will help sustain the heat and then the cycle can continue

Got benzene in at the moment

The fork for the mantle can be a flattend, splitted, steel nail.
Original they where made from magnesia as I was told.
