This Gloria No. 33 was made by the Gloria Light Company of Australasia in the 1930s (probably 1933+). This particular lamp came from the estate of @Lamp_Doctor (RIP). The Gloria 33 is based on the Lind-O-Lite 119, but copied and made in Australia (see here: Gloria Lantern ( Lind-O-Lite crossover)). This example has no Lind-O-Lite markings and is therefore 100% Australian manufacture. The lantern has a Coleman globe. "Genuine Gloria". There's a story behind this, but it means it was made in Australia in the 1930s. As it came Testing the burner A wrecked mantle for testing. And again with a better mantle. Up and running This is great lantern with excellent light intensity. Cheers Tony
@Tony Press As someone who inherited a lantern from a CCS/CPL pal who passed away (Trevor’s Radius 119 ‘cook top’) I value the memories it generates of times spent in his company. You’ve a grand lantern there to do the same Tony. A beaut. John
The “capstan” filler cap is used on some other Aussie Glorias, and one (exactly the same) turned up recently on an Akron Diamond 101. Cheers Tony
After moving a year ago... Took the time to restructure and arrange the living space and the spaces for the lamps and lanterns, I'm getting back in touch with the lantern lamps which had sleeping, I'm going back to the CPL&H. Congratulations on all these beautiful lanterns and your entire collection of Gloria lanterns and lamps, great work from you. Regards, Titoo.
