Hi, I got this recently. Presumably a heater. The only marking is on the very top part of the burner (pic attached). Is it a Primus heater? If so, does anyone know what model it is and approximate year? I can’t see any year marking on the bottom of the fount. After replacing seal, pump cup, and NRV pip and washer, the thing fired right up and throws quite a bit of heat … Thanks. Ulf
Primus outer cap but it’s an Aladdin convertible heater/stove. Radius (No.33) and Svea (No.36) made very similar equivalents, but they were clearly identified with their manufacturers’ ID and model number. See THIS example on CCS. Here it’s a heater … … now it’s a stove John
Wow, thanks for the fast reply! I have enough Primus lanterns to suspect that if it were a Primus, they would have marked it. Any idea of age? Thanks. Ulf.
Ha! John beat me to it. Where did you pick it up, @Ulf? It would be unusual for an Australian Aladdin stove/heater to be in the USA except via a collector. Cheers Tony
Take a closer look at that post on CCS Ulf, in which Matty said, So, a product made in Australia in the 1950’s, modelled very closely (we’d say a clone these days) on 1920’s/30’s Swedish original designs.
It's either the Australian Australian Aladdin Heater Cooker Or the Radius 33 Australian Aladdin Heater Cooker 1930’s I'm thinking Australian Heater Stove.
Ah, thank you, I had missed that bit. I bought it on eBay, mostly b/c I thought it looked cool. I don’t know anything about stoves or heaters — I have a few that I think look steampunk or such like. I thought that big carnivorous plant looking perforated thing was kind of neat. The seller was in the UK so maybe was either an Aussie or got it from an Aussie (?). It’s a strong runner and dang, it puts out a fair bit of heat. Not a bad looker either, methinks. Ulf.
