    This is a Hasag 151P PRESTO made by Hugo Schneider AG, Leipzig, Germany sometime in the late 1930s.
    It runs on kerosene and produces about 300cp.
    It was one of variants of the model 51 and was fitted with a preheat torch.
    I have not confirmed exact timing when Hugo Schneider AG introduced the preheat torch into their models.
    Judging from 151P was listed in ca.1938 catalogue and Erich & Graetz AG (Petromax) had acquired a patent of their preheat torch in the mid to late 1930s, it seems to be sometime in the late 1930s.
    Considering that World War II began in September 1939, it is a reasonable estimation that the PRESTO models of Hugo Schneider AG were only produced for a VERY short period of time.
    I suppose this is probably one of the reasons why the PRESTO models are difficult to find today.

    @gkpllantern

    Thank you for posting your Hasag 151P Presto. It is the first in the Reference Gallery, a fine example, and the photos show the detail of the lamp very well.

    Thank you.

    Tony

    Hello gkpllantern,

    Hasag AG introduced its Presto rapid preheating system for pressure lamps in 1936.
    This was one year after the companies Ehrich & Graetz, Berlin and Standard Licht Gesellschaft GmbH, Frankfurt had introduced their rapid preheating systems. The rapid preheating system of Standard GmbH was based on a German patent from 1931 by the Swiss Julius Ortlieb.
    Standard Licht GmbH, which had a very close relationship with the Swiss company Schweizer Lampen und Metallwaren AG, and Ehrich & Graetz agreed to use this patent jointly.

    While the companies Ehrich & Graetz and Standard Licht GmbH had filed patents for their rapid preheating with the patent office, Hasag AG had its invention protected only by utility model.

    Although Hasag AG shut down its storm lantern production in Meuselwitz in the summer of 1939 in favour of munitions production, the production of pressure lamps continued until March 1943, before it was forcibly shut down by the German state. The other German manufacturers such as Graetz, Standard Licht GmbH and Continental Licht GmbH also had to shut down their production in favour of army production.

    Greetings
    Jörg
