I’m not a collector, but I found this lamp while cleaning the house. It’s an Aladdin 14A. There seems to be a couple of pieces missing.
Welcome aboard! An interesting find, the filler cap is missing and perhaps you could remove the hood and post images of the inside of it and of the vapouriser.
It's actually a 12A and a nice find even though it is incomplete. Check out this example posted by @Graham P Aladdin 12 A
It is actually a 14A but it is quite common to find them with a tank stamped 12A. My example is stamped 12A. I'm on the lookout for one that is actually stamped 14A.
@Henry Plews The confusion between the Aladdin 12A and 14A is reflected in the Reference Gallery because of the fact that the 14A model, defined by the elaborate levered pricker/control mechanism, was fitted to tanks stamped 12A as well as tanks stamped 14A. The Aladdin 12A model does not have this pricker/control mechanism. I will go through the Reference Gallery and suggest which examples be reclassified. Welcome, @David W I’m working on rebuilding a couple of these 14As, so I may have some spare parts. Let me say they are a bugger to work on because the pricker/control mechanism is constructed very differently to other Aladdin lanterns. Look here for the construction and discussion of pulling one apart and putting it back together again: Aladdin 14A (made in Sweden, circa 1938) Cheers Tony
Cheers @Tony Press. I did look in the reference gallery but obviously wasn't paying enough attention, I now see 4 model 14A and plenty of 12A's with the more usual wheel for the needle control. I guess I allowed myself to be swayed by Graham's almost mint condition 12A stamped tank but lever operated cleaning needle.
