HI everybody Here is my last restauration I think this is a n°163 Phare-lantern (Succès brand) I havn't found exactly the same in my documents This is a gasoline lampe which was given for 160/180 CP in the 30's As usual, there are many small parts to assemble this old lady had been electrified it was missing a part of the burner (an Optimus 200 J-tube have done the trick) I found the other missing parts on G&A wrecks I had to redo 3 mica panels (I have let one red panel for the fun) the cleaning system was patented in 1922 : A piano rope is guided in a mini brass tube. The needle is screwed to its end. The lever makes it possible to penetrate the needle into the jet with a quick return trip so as not to turn off the lamp I still have to do a handle which is missing
Looks like a very good job done and a fine restoration. Very interesting lantern as well. I have never encountered the word "taupette" before. - little mole ? (the animal in the garden that digs and leaves mounds of soil)
@Fireexit1 Taupette has nothing to do with the little mole that makes holes in your garden We looked for the origin of this word but we found nothing We found "Topette" which is a small flat bottle containing alcohol, which can slip into a jacket pocket in an "absolute emergency" A "taupette" is a small fork in asbestos braid that slips under the burner to be warmed up
Nice Nr.163 (all G & A Succes lanterns has that numbering) lantern! Yes an intricate cleaning needle system. It is miracle that it works, but it does! You can see it also in one of the versions of the 156 Succes radiator. /Conny
@Conny C @Tive Nice Nr.163 (all G & A Succes lanterns has that numbering) lantern! Perhaps..... I have a n° 1163 on a catalogue and we have so few documents, this is difficult to assert Yes an intricate cleaning needle system. It is miracle that it works, but it does! Yes, strange idea at first glance, but very effective system I never had a problem with
Hi all here is the portage handle in place Due to the square section of the lamp, the handle must be folded to be lowered along the lamp
