Good Morning All, this is my first post to the forum but have been lurking for a while. I am hoping to draw on the combined expertise from this forum. Busy trying to get a Canadian 249 10/61 back to working condition. When i received the lamp it was minus a globe and in fair condition. The fount had some sludge and "rust, the check valve was passing and the pricker wire was curled over. What i did to date was clean the inside of the fount with lacquer thinners and bb shot, Soak the check valve with thinners and pump through, pump through carb cleaner from the generator side - generator removed a few times, clean all air tubes and burner assy. Washed and rinsed everything with acetone, blew out with air afterwards. Reassembled and tested for leaks and it was all good. Filled with fresh paraffin, pressurized, preheated and fired up with no mantle to check burn. lantern lights no problem but flame has small blue cone and and the rest a yellow flame. Fitting a mantle shows a flame outside the mantle when running. Made no difference rotating the pricker. Shutting down it also pops and splutters before dying out. Any help is appreciated
Hi All, After reading a post by @Sedgman I recalled seeing that the bail had worn through into the mixing chamber on mine. I took no notice at the time but now i am wondering if that could contribute to the problems i might have
Welcome to the forum. Pricker and jet from a Coleman 201 and a newer coleman 214 will work if you can get hold of one of those.
214 generators on Amazon and Ebay UK just now. not cheap tho. Beware some of the newer made generators have the jets swaged in, rather than threaded. If you get the ones in the red/white card I think you will be OK.
Welcome to CPL @AHG I would suggest fixing this problem and try lighting it again before replacing the generator.
