I bought this primus 1020 flashlight, I don't know how to extract the vaporizer. I don't know this Swedish system. If someone can explain it to me, I would really appreciate it.
The curved tube just lifts off but it may be stiff. Use wire wool to clean around the joints and use a little penetrating oil. This image is of a 991 but the system is the same.
Wow, it looks virtually identical to how the Veritas 350 burner assembly fits together. Interesting! And the frame is very similar. I obviously need one in my collection.
You definately need one! The Primus 1020 is one of the most reliable and most easy to fix lanterns there is. I can only think of some really old Colemans to be better in those two aspects.
Hi 1020 lovers, as this is one of the last posts not only about 1020 but also about vaporizer I think I can hang on. I am working on a few 1020's and noticed a difference in one of the vaporizers. It handles about two holes in one of them, best way to explain will be to post some pictures. Observe the two holes are not opposite to each other. Can anyone explain the purpose of those holes? Regards, Ton. .
The only thing I can imagine is that it might encourage the burner to intake some warmer air from inside the globe ?
Could be, that possible reason passed my mind as well. On the other hand, more warm air means less oxygen, that is why turbo cars have intercoolers, cooling down air intake.
Ah but too cold and lighting gets more difficult. I does get pretty cold at the top end of Sweden My other thought is that it might be shielded from snow ? - but pure conjecture on my part.
Do you know if the lamp had been working with the air intake like this? I'm wondering if someone has used it as part of electrocuting the lamp.
No idea if the lamp has been working this way. But I now know it is not original. I can give it a try or fix the holes. Regards, Ton.
It doesn't make sense to have two holes for an electric cable. Unless the converter made a mistake. I would see if it works before patching them up.
