After an absence due to illness, I feel better to return to the hobby. I have searched an enormous amount of posts regarding how to arrive at the date of manufacture of Petromax, Hipolito etc. I read with interest the many posts by Reinard regarding all the very useful info. I am still unable to make sense of this code. 469634 Thanking you in advance.

I think I you have a modern Chinese made petromax, the six digit no on the bottom would be a serial no and not a date code, I have 2 of these and they both took a bit of fettling to get them to work properly.

Hi Ian. Thank you for your reply. I have not fired it yet as the first thing I noticed was no pricker visible when the dial was at 12 clock. I removed the jet to find the wire bent over this was replaced with another new one which done the same. I have just put another pricker on with another jet but as yet have not fired it. I saw in some of the posts they can be a bit of a nuisance before sorting out. I have a hipolito 502 so I will look at all the usual problem areas. Thank you again and sorry for the late reply as I have been unable to respond due to driving..Regards Nigel
