When the Petromax/AIDA lamp production was transferred from Germany to Portugal, the word "Record" was omitted. The shape of the controls has also changed on the AIDA's.
    Functionally everything remained the same.

The word "Super" was omitted from the Petromax. It reappears in chinese production.

    Reinhard,
Very interesting feature, so if you don't see the word "record" that means it is a Portuguese item. All the contrary, the word Record is for those made in Germany. Am I right?

I feel totally proud to have a German item instead. Once I heard Petromax were made in China. That's super sad Indeed. It would be the same to have a Harley Davidson made in Chile. It's just a matter of tradition in my view.

It has been mentioned and believed that the units that were made in Portugal(at least the earlier ones) have more or less the same quality as those that were of German origin. Also, it had been mentioned that they were produced using most of the same machinery/ equipment/ toolings from the German Graetz factory.
The modern China-made ones are manufactured with completely different machines.
They are certainly not exact replicas of the originals. They have no connections whatsoever with the original Graetz company in Germany.
