Got this Coleman Canada 03 48 scout lantern. The nickle on the fount is in reasonable condition and the collar has instructions in 3 languages. I think this is a 249 from what I have read so far, yet nowhere it is stated only model reference I can fount is the "Scout" that is stamped on the collar. It has the same generator as a 249 and came without a pre heater cup and has an unmarked globe. Below some pictures of "as is" found condition, I made a pre heater cup from a three quarter copper pipe end cap. Will see how it runs as soon as I get some proper mantles, The one in the picture broke when I dismantled

    Thanks
    Jaco

I recently aquired a 4 48 Scout. Mine has No 249 Scout on the collar.

Hi Andrew, strange, maybe this was an omission when stamping? I also have a "D - 46 " that has the number and Scout stamped on the collar. It is not nickle though, painted brass, but the rest of the lantern is the same?

The collar may be from a 247 Scout. Maybe an error from the Coleman factory.
