Hi, I am new to pressure lamps (I have been collecting antique wick lamps for quite some time though). I recently came across this Petromax lamp and I was thinking of buying it. I am not asking for a suggested price, rather is it good condition, original, any parts missing etc. Thank you all so much in advance.
Looks pretty complete, but the condition looks poor and it has had some work done on it and non-original parts added. My experience of buying lamps from India is they have had a hard life and tend to be rather battered. Shade is not original i don't think. Can't see how much of the burner is present. Check the spirit dish is present as it's a hard part to find. Petromax 834 is a fairly common lamp especially in India but if the price is cheap enough I'd go for it.
It is definitely put together with non original parts. Those are not easy to get. I am pretty sure you can find pictures here about how it should like and if it is complete. Which if you abstract the non original parts is: non complete.
NO ! You should get a picture without globe and reflector. The owner (?) has made an adaption to house the globe and I do not see the pre heating disc. Also you need a picture with the little door open to see what is original left there. All screws on the main body are wrong and have damaged the threads. So from a collectors point of view: not worth the money.
