Hi, I have just found the above lamp at a boot fair. I had obviously not been used for many years but, apart from the mica globe, seemed to be complete.
I am now in the process of taking it apart to clean etc and have found that the iron air/fuel generator does not fit onto the control valve as the internal screw thread in the tube is too far up to connect to the control valve thread.
I wondered if there should be a brass threaded sleeve at the base of the air tube or something similar to join the two parts. Can anyone enlighten me and suggest a way forward.

    Thanks in advance , Roy

Pictures would help a lot to see what the lantern may miss in parts.

Hmm but the lamp of Conny has no problems. So pictures of the lamp in situ would be more helpful, I guess.

    hhmm, ok, so the:
    - air tube should have thread at the bottom otherwise it can't screw onto the valve assembly
    - the valve top looks like missing the jet > big problem, donor or make it yourself
    - I guess there is no needle ? see above
    - do not try to remove air tube from brass burner heads, it will be rusted in situ. Which is no big deal.
    - steel air tube and burner heads must be cleaned

Needle and jet, original, would almost be impossible to find. Unless somebody has a donor lying around. Are the steel valve rods operational ?
The use of steel in combination with brass is a hell for us to get loose if stuck (corroded) in place.

Thanks for your comments, which are very much in line with mine.
I had hoped that the air tube originally had a brass insert to avoid corrosion but sadly no so
I do have the jet but no needle
& both valve rods are stuck fast.
If I cannot sort out the problems, it may well end up as a Frankenstein lamp!

As for the valve rods: quenching (?), heating up/cooling down, may break the bond between the rod and packing/brass.
    Don't break the rods !
The lamp can operate without needle and maybe a stove needle may fit or can be adapted.

    Hi @RoyBuchan
As you can see on the Conny's picture, you are missing the jet, the needle holder and the needle.
The aluminium rod must have a thread, to be screwed on the lower part
For the steel rods : Use heating (and tasting oil) so as to soften the asbestos cord that has dried.
So you can pull the stem
