Today I saved a few lumps of brass and steel from the scrap yard.

There is another 4kg of assorted brass items. I see some lamp and other paraffin fuel items in there.

    saved this as well.

It is down in the SW bit of wiltshire.

I know the yard very well, the staff keep many things aside for me, Men In Sheds and other organisations.

I saved that from the same place.

Unbelievable! Fat chance of having anything set aside here. Correction, I mean set aside for me but who knows where interesting things go.

I have been in and out of my local yard for decades.
They know I bring stuff for them.
Plus with Men In Shed, they know they get free advertising etc.

They also have some good staff members who like to save stuff.

You blessed with a truly enlightened recycling centre. In Surrey where I used to live, the camp guards, sorry I meant the recycling centre staff took great delight in SMASHING and DESTROYING items you showed any interest in. Seriously, they would go out of their way to climb into the bins and smash stuff so it was wrecked!!! However, this just made me even more determined to rescue serviceable items and smuggle them out in various devious ways. I made it my mission to liberate at least one item each visit. I blooming managed it as well!
