Hi all, This is my latest restoration; a single burner Lilor 4209 "donut" lamp, "Bord de Mer"!Probably made in the 1920,s and this lamp is equipped with the 150 CP "Lor" burner. The "Bord de Mer" Lilor lamps can be found in Lilor catalogues from 1915 to 1930. From the beginning 1915 it seems to have had the Bec Magic burner, and later "Bec Lor" and "Bec Sta". A general problem with Lilor catalogues is that they often reused the same lamp images although changes in burners and design had been made during the years. So I have not found any Lilor catalogue image of my lamp with the Lor burner and with a hinged reflector. The only catalogue with this lamp and a hinged (not fixed) reflector is in the 1929 Lilor catalogue. But this image shows a 4210 "Bec Sta" double burner lamp. This lamp came in parts and several parts were missing; fuel valve control, mixing tube with gas burner etc. I was lucky that the main lamp body parts were there and the Lor burner and tank were also in good condition. I have a lot of parts left over from previous restorations of French lamps, so I was able to repair the missing parts. After many hours in my workshop, I managed to fix and repair the lamp and make it shine again. /Conny 1929 Lilor catalogue .. before restoration ...... My two Lilor donut lamps 4083 and 4209 ..
An absolutely beautiful lamp, very elegant and stylish. Great restoration work, good job you had some spares to hand. The same old question, where do you find all these lovely old lamps? Great work, well done and thank you for sharing it with us. James
