Hello, I'm looking for a tool for removing a check-valve from a Mexican Lin-Mex lantern (236 Coleman clon). The seller says the rods measures 8-32 or 1/4 -32 threads (I suppose this is the air stem diameter..). My question is, Do 236 check- valves have narrow/wide slots for the "ears" from the tool to fit in? I don't want to order the wrong tool from a well-know website. Any links containing the right tool would be useful. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Maybe this video might help. It shows check valve removal from a 236 using a check valve tool. How to SAFELY remove a check valve from a Coleman lantern // Restoring Vintage Coleman Lanterns - Bing video
Adolfo, from my limited experience with Coleman the width of the slot doesn't change, it's the diameter of the rod (thread) that changes.
@Adolfo I agree with @ROBBO55. My check valve remover has one ‘screw driver’ fitting and two different sized and threaded central rods to screw into the check valve. Cheers Tony
The tool from OCP or the one that Ron make are the one you need. Both come with wide and narrow slots, also both rods. I’ll check tomorrow my 236 if has the wide or narrow slot.
