    Hi all

I bought a breaker x246 lamp for parts, and the burner fitted to the lamp has a huge spigot (left burner)

Can someone enlighten me on this burner, and what sort of mantle fits it?

Thanks @Fireexit1 it's a wopper! It came off a 1950 - 1957 Guardsman, so I take it was fitted as an upgrade in the past, the vaporiser with it seamed to have a larger hole (or was just worn).

I would have thought so. The Guardsman I think always had the threaded air tubes. The X246b did not. It might be possible that the vapourser had been enlarged to try and get the larger mantle to run more brightly.

It's actually a spigot for Tilley's 500 series lanterns, they were just the normal X-246-B lanterns which were fitted with a longer spigot and Tilley offered larger mantles to fit said spigot, but the lanterns were not any brighter, in my opinion it was just a sales gimmick, the link below shows the proper old Tilley 500 cp., burner.

Tilley 500cp., do-nut lamp burner unit.
