A project in the making, after discussion HERE regarding the authenticity of its guard. Some cosmetic refinement to be done but fuelling is correct, thanks to @Henry Plews observation in another Veritas bowl fire thread that a jet for a Primus 1020 lantern will fit the Veritas vapouriser’s mounting threads. The original jet was massively worn, but the Primus jet is absoluely on specification. Here it is reaching red heat after priming … … and well underway in this clip Blue flames are obvious within the perforated steel ball mantle initially, then as the mantle gets to red heat they’re less apparent, though visible as flamelets emerging from the perforations. As an experiment, I made this substitute burner from a tubing stub with compatible threads (a scrap Tilley burner remnant) The narrow flame output couldn’t be expected to impinge on the burner to maintain vapourisation, so flame shots were taken while the priming charge was still burning. Blue amongst the priming flames nevertheless. John

I really like the use of a makeshift burner for this experiment. That red you obtained will probably produce a lot of the heat needed for the emission.
