Has anyone ever removed the pump tube from a Coleman slant fount? I need to fix a leak from the bottom of the pump tube, not caused by the check valve, or it’s direct fitting, but most likely by a failure of the join between the pump tube proper and the base of the pump tube. All advice greatly appreciated. Tony

Tony, removing the pump will be a difficult task as they have a snorkel tube extending towards the top of the fount... I believe these were placed from inside the fount before the bottom was crimped and soldered in place... Hopefully I'm wrong
The pump tube certainly has the snorkel. The fount also has the “captured” pickup tube for the fuel (ie no pickup tube fixed to the fuel valve). That makes treating the leak with Carswell's from inside the fount difficult. I’m now pondering treating the bottom of the pump tube with Carswell’s from inside the pump tube itself. The fount is in good condition and I’m very unlikely to find another like this, with that date, in Australia. I’m going to try to get some photos of the leak “down the pump tube” later today. Tony if it's a "slant" fount the F/A tube is removable (internal pump 427's were soldered into the fount), however it would still be very difficult to cover the bottom section of the pump without wasting a lot of sealer... I've seen others seal them from inside the pump bore, although I've also seen them get sealer in the check valve area and cause another issue.
